Styling in comfort but still in your style.

During my trip, I didn’t want to lose myself in ugly layers of clothes just to stay comfortable and warm. Therefore, I made it a point to only pack essential clothing but at the same time pack light.

In doing so, I had to get creative with ways to dress warm in cold weather.

Here’s my alternatives;

1. Instead of your usual beanie hats, use a scarf. It can be a head cover, a wind breaker and a hair control in those cold and windy weather. (Ladies with long hair can relate).

2. You can still wear a knee length dress but layer on knee length socks! Why should you stop wearing a dress in the cold.

Not into long socks wear, then use leggings underneath your dress.

3. Running shoes should not be the default walking shoes. Wear short heeled boots, mocassins, cowboy boots or hiking boots even. Bring a separate pair if you must.

4. Reversible jackets can give you two different styles and looks. Most are of lightweight material and come in different colors, patterns to suit your style.

5. If you can trade or swap clothes with whoever is travelling or vacationing with you, why not! My daughter and I happen to like each others style and she mostly fit my clothes, so we have traded jackets and she likes trying out some of my accessories.

6. Worse case scenario, buy new clothes from your trip. Its another reason why packing light is key here. How else are you going to make room with all the shopping you will be doing.

Other than that…Happy vacationing/staycationing and I hope you enjoy your summer!

Trying out Muumuu dresses.

I was bored so just for fun I decided to try on muumuu dresses. They’re so flowy and baggy why not give it a try. Here I was in my converse shoes.

Dress 1.

Long sleeves and length was a plus for me but it looked like the dress was wearing me instead of vice versa.

Dress 2.

It goes to show that sleeveless do not compliment my figure much. Also, the length should either be ankle length or above the knee to flatter me.

Dress 3.

It might not have the flowery pattern of your typical muumuu dress but this had the option of creating a waist. The built-in belt provides a silhoutte. Again the length makes me short and stubby looking but overall, I like it.

What do you think of the muumuu trend?

Girl…cover-up!

I have this black sleeveless body hugging dress that accentuates every fold I have. On top of that it has a risque criss-cross opening as a bodice, only cute for someone folded and curvier in the right places…if you know what I mean.

Why do I own one then? Well, I can’t remember but if I were to guess, I bought it because it happened to be on sale.

…so I’m stuck with it and I’m determined to use it for what its worth even if it means covering up!

My go-to covering is a long sleeve men’s shirt of any color, so I was able to wear this dress with different patterned shirts from neutral to bold colors.

In the end, covering up made me more comfortable and bold because I know underneath I’m wearing a one sexy number!

Styling with men’s loafers.

Finally! I took the leap of pairing men’s loafers with a dress under a men’s shirt. You see, I envy ladies who can pull an androgyny look because I like it when the standard feminine look can be easily styled with masculine pieces. To me the end result looks unique with a hint of intrigue.

I love dressing up no matter the occassion or none occassion. For instance, this is my outfit as I went grocery shopping. I shop in long sleeves to keep me comfortable especially as I shop at the frozen section.

I have to admit, it took awhile for me to finally have the courage to pair men’s loafers with something that is not a pair of pants/shorts. For some reason, I finally did it! Its funny because I felt liberated because I pushed myself from my comfort zone.

Now its only a matter of time when I will finally pair men’s loafers with maxi dresses and/or summer dresses. Hmmmmm?20190101_154724
